Zo ontstonden de MEV Rocket en de MEV Sonic. Gezien het animo in nederland beloven dit de meest succesvolle kits te worden, mede gezien de lage bouwkosten en lage co2 belasting. De auto wordt gebouwd met de motor en bak van de Ford Focus, die momenteel, en de komende jaren, goedkoop in de schade of gebruikt te vinden zijn. Veel mensen kopen een oude Focus en verkopen de restanten die ze voor de kitcar niet gebruiken zodat het hele donorpakket erg goedkoop kan uitvallen. De auto kan gekeurd worden via de RDW in nederland. Je hoeft dus niet meer naar het buitenland voor een kenteken. Kosten voor die keuring ligt rond 1500 euro. Belasting valt laag uit door het lage gewicht. Afhankelijk van gekozen motorvermogen moet je rekening houden met 450 tot 1500 euro co2 taks (Dit wordt de nieuwe bpm) In geval van een elektromotor vervalt de co2 taks / bpm volledig. Inclusief de aanschaf van de basiskit met evt opties en een Ford Focus, kentekenkeuring en co2 belasting is deze auto te bouwen rond de 10.000 euro. Geen andere kitcar kan deze lage bouwprijs evenaren, mede door de hogere belasting enveel duurdere componenten. Uiteraard hangt de uiteindelijke prijs ook af van de gewenste extra componenten zoals sportvelgen, tunen van je motor, dure of goedkope uitlaat en dergelijke.
